I traveled through Taiwan for almost 4 weeks in March 2026, starting in Taipei and making my way through the whole island by train. My stops were: Taipei, Hualien, Taitung, Kaohsiung, Tainan, Chiayi (one night), Sun Moon Lake, Taichung, and back to Taipei. March is technically shoulder season — expect mostly overcast skies, occasional rain, and mild temperatures in the cities.
